My July Birchbox
Hello all!
I know I never posted my June Birchbox last month (to be honest, I was not at all impressed with it…probably the worst BB in awhile), but I’m much happier with July’s. Here’s what I got:
-
Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect This is actually a duplicate sample (I originally got this about a year ago in my June 2012 Box). Birchbox gave me 10 BB points, though, to apologize…but luckily, I really love this product so I don’t even mind! It smells amazing and it conditions my hair really nicely.
-
LA FRESH® Instant Body Soother I haven’t used these yet, I think they’re like body wipes? They seem like a good product to keep in my purse if I ever need to touch up. Its been so hot here lately that they may come in handy pretty soon.
-
Birchbox Bobby Pins These bobbypins are really adorable, though they’re kind of tough to get in and out of your hair. I’m not sure if its because my hair is very fine or what, but they tend to snag if I’m not careful. Super cute though!
-
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream Really love this cream! It contains ceramides, which is included in a moisturizer I normally use by CeraVe. I haven’t used that moisturizer in awhile now, and I might go back to it. After using this moisturizer a couple times, my skin seems a lot healthier and bright. I don’t think its worth $48, but it is a nice cream.
-
ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick The color I received was “Get Naked” which is a classic nude. I don’t usually gravitate towards lighter colors, but I really do love this color. I was surprised at how moisturizing this lip stick is…its almost like a balm. The only thing, though, is that it really settles into cracks and crevices on your lips and makes them super noticeable. Exfoliating your lips is a must before wearing this lipstick! I think this is technically a “mini” size but it looks almost as big as a full size to me.
Have you guys been liking your Birchboxes lately? And what do you think of the new branding? I really miss the old branding. I like some aspects of the new branding like the cute design in the boxes and the different colors, but I think the website just looks so boring and corporate to me, and the diamond shape logo is even worse…they had a really unique thing going with their more box-like pink logo, but oh well!

Influenster Sunkissed Vox Box
Geez I haven’t posted in almost two months…sorry for the unplanned hiatus! I’ve been super busy (got a kitty cat, and also lots of business of at Adorability Designs)!
I received the Influenster Vox Box a couple weeks ago. Should have posted about it earlier but better late than never! Here is what was included:
-
Dr. Scholl’s for Her I don’t wear heels too often, but I’ve really wanted inserts like these to make them more comfortable when I do. I bought a cute pair of red heels back in January, and they’re just a little too big. I’m looking forward to trying these out with them to see if they’ll fit a little more snug and comfy
-
Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer with SPF15 I’ve been using the Garnier BB Cream pretty much all summer so far (I can’t remember the last time I wore foundation…crazy!), so I was really excited to try this one out to compare. Unfortunately, I’m not loving this BB Cream, if you could even call it that. The color I received was “fair to light” which I’m obviously not (not sure what I got that color?), but it ended up not even mattering because there is literally no coverage and the texture is a lot thinner than the Garnier. Its not bad for a very light tinted moisturizer, but nowhere near a BB Cream!
-
SinfulShine with Gel Tech The color I received was “Alfresco” which is blue color with a touch of lavender. It definitely does have shiny finish, though it is not particularly long lasting (with the “gel” reference I kind of thought it would be). Good polish though, and very affordable!
-
Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics I was most excited about these hair ties! I love the twist ties that come in Birchboxes a lot but think they’re ridiculously overpriced, so these are a nice alternative. They’re basically the exact same. The only issue I had with them is that the elastic is not quite as stretchy, the the material etc is exactly the same.
I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes

My May Birchbox
I’ll be honest…not my favorite Birchbox (especially since I’ve been loving them recently).
Here’s what I got:
-
Cargo Water Resistant Blush in ‘Bali’ This was probably the one redeeming product in this box. I really love this blush! The color is a super pretty “doll” pink and applies really nicely. The pigmentation is very strong, so only a little bit is needed. I’m not really sure about the waterproof claim because I haven’t really payed attention to it, but it does seem like it would last for awhile because of the texture.
-
COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face I don’t really like receiving moisturizers, so I haven’t tried this yet. Fortunately, its SPF 30 which is what I use on a daily basis, so I could see this coming in handy for travel.
-
Marvis Toothpaste Toothpaste?? Okay. I mean…I’ll definitely try this and it will be great for travel as well, but I’d really have preferred something different.
-
Miss Jessie’s® Original Jelly Soft Curls Okay, I LOVE Miss Jessie’s and use Quick Curls regularly (which I discovered through Birchbox), but this is the 3rd Miss Jessie’s product I’ve received from them in a fairly short time period so I’m not too thrilled. I’ll definitely try this, but I’d be more excited about it if it were at least in a tube and not in the foil packets which are difficult to use. I could also get these exact packets for free off Miss Jessie’s website, so I don’t feel like they are a “deluxe” sample.
-
Pilot Corporation of America Acroball PureWhite® (in purple) This pen was actually my second favorite product in the box, oddly enough! The color I got is purple…and I was totally surprised to find out it actually wrote in purple (as opposed to just a purple pen that wrote in black/blue). It writes really nicely as well, unlike a lot of pens that are funky colors. I’d love to try the pink one!
How were your Birchboxes? Did you make out better than I did?

Lilly Brush Review – Save Your Sweaters!
I first found out about the Lilly Brush through Kristin’s blog, Meet Me on the Bright Side! I saw that she sampled it through iFabbo, so since I’m a member as well I was able to try out this brush too. I’ve been looking around for something like this because I have so much clothing that seems to have fuzzies and piling all over the place (sweaters, pants, etc).
The Lilly Brush in graphite gray.
While trying to figure out what piece of clothing I’d try the brush out on for this review, I realized the leggings I was wearing (from intiMint) would be the perfect candidate. After washing them a number of times, they’ve begun to start piling and loosing their softness. Enter the Lily brush!
Before using the Lilly Brush
After using the Lilly Brush
As you can see, there's a BIG difference from before and after using the Lily Brush. It does take a bit of time (and a little bit of arm work—but it’s good exercise!) to get the piling off, but it does indeed work! While it's meant for sweaters, I’ve actually used it on all kinds of things, including a little rug that I have which never seems to get clean with a vacuum (hairs just stick to it constantly). The Lilly Brush was able to remove them so that it looks nice and clean. Additionally, if you're looking for other transformative results, consider trying an eyelash growth serum to enhance your look along with your wardrobe. Kristin’s blog that I linked above actually has a great before and after of a sweater, if you’d like to see how it works on sweaters.
The Lilly Brush is also pretty inexpensive ($12.95) and comes in the grey (shown above) as well as bright red. I also love the fact that it has a little case/top…perfect for travel. Check out the Lilly Brush website for more information and to pick one up for yourself!
