Birchbox Home: From the Garden
Hello all! I received an email a couple weeks ago from Birchbox advertising their new limited edition Birchbox Home: From the Garden Box. I loved their previous Birchbox Home box (review here) that I placed an order pretty much instantly! Unfortunately the box is now sold out, but you can still buy the full size products separately.

-
Sarabeth’s Legendary Spreadable Fruit: I received two mini jars of this spreadable fruit in “Peach Apricot” and “Strawberry Raspberry”. I’m honestly not a huge preserves/jam person, but I did try out the Peach Apricot and it was pretty good. The jars are quite small though…I would say one would last for maybe a 2-3 slices of toast, but maybe I just put on too much =p
-
Gift Republic Grow Me: Mini Herb and Vegetable Growing Kits: This was one of the main reasons I decided to pick up this box! I tried growing basil last year, and although I ended up with some it wasn’t too successful. I used this little kit over the weekend and its currently sitting on my window. Its verrrry small but should still hopefully work. I wish the instructions were a little more detailed though for those of us with black thumbs haha.
-
BAGGU® Market Shopping Bag: Living in the city without a car, I’m always using these little reusable bags! They especially come in handy for grocery shopping. The design I got kinda looks like its from a 90′s sitcom, but it still gets the job done. lol
-
Birchbox Shopping List: This is a cute shopping list and I love that it has lines, unlike post notepads I have. I really wish it came with magnets so I could put it on the fridge though. I might buy some and add it to the back.
-
Core Bamboo Radish Print Utility Knife: This is an adorable little knife! (I never though I’d use “adorable” and “knife” in the same sentence but there ya go). I used it to peel some ginger the other day, and it was very easy because of the small size and sharpness of the knife.
-
TOCCA Crema da Mano Luxe: This cream was a huge surprise, because I was expecting a tiny little sample size hand cream. Instead, this cream is FULL size and the packaging is so gorgeous! The scent I received was “Cleopatra” (grapefruit & cucumber), which is light and refreshing. The cream itself works well enough. Its not super moisturizing, but it gets the job done.
-
LAFCO Little Luxuries Candle Tin: The scent I got was “Mint”, which is awesome since I’m totally on a mint kick. The tin is really pretty and has that apothecary look to it. It has a little indentation on the top, which happens to fit the matches that also came in the box perfectly (guessing its supposed to). I don’t use matches, though…always seem to light one then freak out that my fingers are going to burn off so I blow it out. haha. The scent fills small areas very nicely but isn’t too overpowering.
-
L’OCCITANE La Collection de Grasse: I love the scent I got (“Jasmine & Bergamote”) since I’m a huge jasmine fan and most of my perfumes include jasmine. However, I’m super disappointed that this isn’t a spray top, especially since its huge a large sample size. *sigh*
I hope they keep releasing these limited edition Home boxes because I’m loving them!

BIC Soleil Savvy Razor
I was recently sent the new BIC Soleil Savvy Razor from BzzAgent! I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now so I figured it was time to review!
I was so happy when this razor came in the mail because I had used up my previous one, so it was perfect timing. I usually use Venus, but I used to use BIC Soleil back in high school so I was interested in how their razors have developed since. The razor itself is adorable! Hot pink with little shimmers in it…and I’m totally a sucker for hot pink. This razor is kind of a new concept (at least to me). Its disposable, but instead of coming in a pack of 3 or 4 handles with razors that you throw away, this comes with just one handle and 4 individual razors that you replace when needed. I think this is a great idea because it cuts down on all the extra plastic waste which is unneeded because all you really need to replace is the blade. The handle itself feels very nice and almost like a regular razor instead of a disposable. Its pretty sturdy and has nice rubber grips around the sides.
This razor has a triple blade, pivoting head, and lubricating strips. It gives a really nice, close shave and I didn’t get any nicks or cuts when using this. One of the blades lasts probably around 2 weeks before needing to be replaced (I shave regularly, so if you shave less often then you can change it less). The only con I really have with this razor is that is doesn’t come with a little handle attachment to put on the shower wall. I’ve been using my Venus one to hold it. It doesn’t fit quite right but it’ll do!
All in all, I really love the BIC Soleil Savvy razor! I think the concept is great and I love the close shave it gives. Best of all, the cost is reasonable as well (around $7.50). Check out BIC’s website for more ingo!

Venus & Olay Razor
Gilette Venus & Olay Razor
Its time to review a product from my Influenster Love Vox Box! I was super excited about this product the most, because I shave often (every other day) and this razor seemed like a great option since it contains a moisturizing bar right on the razor and also has 5 blades. I’m a fan of Venus razors in general, and their disposable ones are my usual go-to.
Another huge perk is the holder that you can place on your shower wall. I can’t tell you how many times I have to place my razor on the side of my tub only to have it fall in at least once per shower! I’ve been using this razor since I got it in my Vox Box, which was about 10 days ago.
Here are some of the product details as described by Gilette:
- Venus’ five-bladed razors shave you close and adjust to women’s curves for a smooth and comfortable shave, even over tricky shaving areas like knees and ankles.
- Olay Moisture Bars contain skin-enhancing elements found in Olay products: Petrolatum helps lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and Glycerin helps offer that goddess glow! Just wet the razor to release a light lather – no separate shave cream required.
- As with most Venus razors, new Venus & Olay also features a rounded, pivoting head designed for women’s curves, and a soft-grip ergonomic handle for confident control, even in wet and soapy environment
I had previously reviewed the Intuition razor, which I mentioned disliking because the shave bar disappeared so quickly. I’ve found that this is not the case with the Venus and Olay razor. The moisture bars do not dissolve as quickly, and they are positioned in a way that makes sure there is an even distribution of the moisture bar when you’re shaving. Its super moisturizing and no additional shave gel or cream is needed! It was super easy to use this on my knees and other areas where I usually end up cutting myself (which I have not once with this razor). It gave me a super smooth shave!
All in all, this is a great razor and one that I’d definitely think about re-purchasing. This razor has actually just become available today (March 15th) in stores. The razor itself (with one cartridge) retails for $8.99-$10.99 (depending on location etc) and refill cartridges are $14.99-$19.49. Check out the Gilette Venus website for more info.
What razor do you guys usually use? Are you a fan of Venus razors?
Stay tuned for more Influenster Love Vox Box product reviews!

Schick Intuition Naturals Razor
Schick Intuition Naturals Razor
Just a quick review for you today. I haven’t used this razor in a few weeks (and I’ll get into why) but I thought I’d review it in case anyone was thinking about picking it up!
I usually use either the Venus disposables or the Schick disposables, but I decided to try this razor because I thought it would be more cost-effective than buying disposables and I wanted a razor with a more sturdy handle. Well, unfortunately it was the opposite of cost-effective! The razor itself was nice…the design on it was very pretty and it comes with a hook that you can attach to the shower wall to store it. The handle is great and I loved using it because of that. I even got a fairly close shave with it despite the shave bar, which I found surprising.
Unfortunately, the main issue with this razor (and I assume any other razor with a shaving cream bar attached) is that the bar disappears SO quickly. Once you use it a few times, the moisture bar on the front is almost gone, while the rest of it is still there. Once the bar is gone, the razor is very cumbersome to use. I thought I would still be able to use it minus the bar (just like a regular razor) but it was very difficult since there is no other moisture strip attached to it and didn’t glide very well on my legs. So pretty much after the moisture bar is gone, the razor needs to be replaced…and they aren’t cheap to replace so its definitely not cost effective!
I do know that some people like the Schick Intuition (based on some reviews I’ve read), but I really can’t recommend it. If they found a way to make the moisture bar last long, it would be great. For now I’ll stick to my Venus disposables!
Whats your favorite razor? Any good recommendations?

December Birchbox Product Reviews
Here are the product reviews from my December Birchbox. There were a couple I haven’t tried out yet, but I’m not sure when or if I will so I figure I’ll get up the reviews now before it gets to be January.
-
Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss: Jouer specially made this gloss for Birchbox, and its called “Birchbox Pink”. I really like how this gloss looks and feels on, but I feel like they couldn’t have made the sample size any smaller if they tried. I feel like all the Jouer samples I’ve received have been super small actually. Their stuff is kind of overpriced (at least in my opinion) so I’m not super surprised. I’m basically finished this sample and I’ve only used it a few times. Although the color is hot pink in the tube, it goes on like a very sheer pink, which I actually prefer since I don’t like bright lip color.
-
Showstoppers Designer Fashion Tape: This is, from what I gather, a strong double-sized tape that is supposed to help keep bra straps in place or to fix an undone hem (and anything else you can use them for). I probably won’t open these until I need them. I think they would come in handy for pant hems, since mine seem to come undone a lot. I can’t really review since I haven’t found a need to use them yet.
-
Benefit The POREfessional: I was super super excited for this product! It was something I was thinking about getting anyway, and then it happened to appear as a Birchbox sample so its nice that I can try it first. It is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores and also act as a primer. To be honest, I don’t think I’m going to purchase this product anymore (its a good thing I got to try it out first!). It is a decent primer, but I feel like the texture dries out my skin. It really does get rid of large pores, though, but the finish is just too matte for me and my flakes seem to come through when using this product.
-
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse® OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer: I wasn’t super excited about this product, because I thought it was another face or hair oil thing, but the shimmer in it is really beautiful and I can see using it on a night out or for a special occasion. Haven’t tried it out yet (not sure when I will), so I can’t really review it.
-
Atelier Cologne Ambre Nue Cologne Absolue: Since this says “cologne”, I’m guessing its supposed to be a male fragrance, but to be honest I could see it going either way. I really love the smell of this (floral but not too overpowering). Top notes are Italian bergamot and Italian green mandarin; middle notes are fresh jasmine and exotic cinnamon Ceylon; and base notes are African myrrh and Indian sandalwood. I really wish this had come in a spray tube so I could actually use it, which is my gripe with a lot of the fragrance samples I get.
-
EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster: I like when they include little food extras like this. This is an energy boosting drink in an orange flavor. To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan. While it did give me energy, I didn’t like the carbonation (I drank it in the morning, so carbonation in the AM isn’t something I want). It tasted okay, but the orange color was super bright and unnatural looking. It also had a white foam at the top after mixing so it looked like I was having a beer at work LOL. Glad to try it out though, but would not purchase.
I think January may be my last Birchbox, depending on how the MyGlam and BeautyArmy subscriptions turn out. I just feel like Birchbox samples are getting extremely small lately, and don’t contain enough makeup products. On the other hand, I love the point earning system so its a difficult decision. What do you guys think? Will you be subscribing to MyGlam or BeautyArmy?
